How do you ensure that your assessments are inclusive and fair?

To ensure my assessments are inclusive and fair, I use a range of strategies that consider the diverse needs of my students. This includes using varied assessment methods such as written tasks, discussions, presentations, and practical activities to suit different learning styles and abilities. I make reasonable adjustments based on individual needs, such as providing extra time, using simplified language, or offering visual aids, especially for students with SEND or EAL. I also reflect on assessment data to identify any disparities and adapt my practice accordingly. Being mindful of bias, using accessible language, and giving constructive feedback all contribute to fairness. Throughout my PGCE journey, I have actively sought help with PGCE assignments and collaborated with mentors to refine these practices and ensure all learners are supported effectively.
